A Life Beyond Work
Before my career in tech, I was an internationally published snowboard photographer—a role that taught me the value of storytelling and perseverance. Scaling remote peaks with camera gear in tow gave me the grit and perspective I bring to technology leadership today.
I am the son of a Cuban refugee who came to the U.S. through Operation Pedro Pan and an American homesteader raised in the Canary Islands. These multicultural roots instilled in me a global perspective and a deep appreciation for resilience and opportunity. As the first in my family to graduate from college, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2003—a milestone that shaped my commitment to lifelong learning. These experiences shape my leadership approach: global in perspective, grounded in purpose, and driven by the belief that we’re at our best when creating something meaningful together.
Today, I call Seattle home, where I spend time adventuring with my wife, Vivian, and our sweet dog, Ada Lovelace. When I’m not diving into AI research or exploring long-term timekeeping concepts, you’ll find me enjoying a quiet evening with a glass of wine, an IDE, and a big idea waiting to unfold.
